Anthony Gunadi

Composer, Game Audio Lead, Composition/Piano Instructor

Anthony Gunadi is a Canadian classical composer from Mississauga, currently a third-year undergraduate student at the University of Toronto studying in Norbert Palej's studio. Gunadi has worked with renowned ensembles such as Orkest de Ereprijs, Standing Wave, the Odin Quartet, the Bedford Trio, and Orchestra Toronto. His achievements include winning Orchestra Toronto’s 2023-24 Prize in Composition and the University of Toronto’s 2023-24 Piano Trio Composition Competition with the Bedford Trio.
Outside of classical music, he has a background in electronic dance music production and is inspired by jazz and film music. He has a passion for video games and is the game audio lead of "Cooking with a Gun" led by Simon Chen and "Cat Island" led by Elienna Wang.
His journey has been enriched by diverse musical experiences including the Etobicoke Jazz Band (trombone), the UTSO (violin), the UofT Steel Band, the UofT African Drumming and Dancing Ensemble, and the UofT Japanese Drumming Ensemble. Anthony Gunadi strives to combine his influences to create a musical voice that resonates with a broader audience.

Burger Smash (Dec 2024)

How many times can you smash a burger before it turns into soup? This piece was written for Orkest de Ereprijs, who visited UofT during the New Music Festival in January 2025.

Snowflakes by the Hearth (Jun 2023)

This piece is the winner of the Orchestra Toronto 2023-24 Prize in Composition, premiered at the sold out "A Winter Festival" concert on December 10th, 2023.

Acquainted with the Night (Feb 2023)

This song was written for Monica Lindsay, set to the text of Robert Frost's poem "Acquainted with the Night". This song was premiered on October 17 2023 by Monica Lindsay (soprano) and Jingren Sun (piano).

Coup de Grâce (Dec 2022)

Coup de Grâce was premiered on March 14 2023 at the UofT Student Composer Concert by Vincent Poon (violin 1), Satchi Kanashiro (violin 2), Thijs Vorstman (viola), and Maren Helyar (cello).
